Join BISC volunteer Sue to explore the University Botanic Garden on Saturday 3 August at 1.50pm. It’s a beautiful garden to visit, whether you are fascinated by plants or just would like to stroll round and chat in a lovely peaceful place. There is also a café with a terrace overlooking the garden.

The garden visit is free if you are a student (see below for others), but you will probably want some money for a drink, cake or ice-cream, if you wish. Plus your bus fare if you arrive by bus.

Arriving by bus
The number 4 bus gets closest to the garden, but you can use others. It’s route is City centre – Park Street – Whiteladies Road – the Downs
Take the number 4 bus to Stoke Bishop. Get off at the top of Stoke Hill (ask for the war memorial in Stoke Hill on the edge of the Downs). Get the bus that arrives at this bus stop at 1.43pm
Walk down Stoke Hill. Take the first right onto Stoke Park Road.
There is a brown tourist sign for the Botanic Garden at the entrance to the road.
The Botanic Garden entrance is 200 metres along Stoke Park Road, on the right.
You will see a sign at the entrance: The Holmes House, Botanic Garden.
Arriving by car
You can park in the local area, on Stoke Park Road or around the Downs (5 hours free parking).
Allow plenty of time for parking and walking.
