BISC volunteer guidelines
Voluntary agreement:
Thank you for becoming a volunteer with BISC. Volunteering is a great way to enable you to share your skills, experience and culture with others. It can benefit many people, including our volunteers. You can learn new skills and gain new experiences. We hope your time with us will be satisfying and rewarding.
Your work for BISC is entirely voluntary. However it is helpful to set down the expectations to avoid misunderstandings.
1. Hours of volunteering
You will discuss your hours of volunteering with the Operations and Events Manager.
If you are volunteering for more than six hours in a day, you are required to take a half hour break.
2. Where you are volunteering:
You will be volunteering either at the BISC Centre, an event venue or via phone call or zoom
3. Notification of Absence
If for any reason you are unable to attend BISC on a day when you had planned to do so, we would be grateful if you could let us know as soon as possible.
If you develop any Covid-19 related symptoms, including sore throat, cough or loss of taste or smell, you are requested to inform us immediately and not attend as a volunteer until you have confirmation that you do not have Covid-19.
4. Confidentiality
You must not at any time during or after your work for us (except in the course of your duties) disclose any confidential information relating to BISC.
5. Car insurances
If you drive for BISC you will need to provide the office with copies of your:
Driving Licence
Insurance
BISC does not provide cover for a volunteer’s own vehicle. You may need to inform your insurance company that you are using your own car in a voluntary capacity. You should not be penalised for this.
6. Right to remain in the UK
Through agreeing to volunteer with BISC you are confirming that you have the right to remain in the UK during the period you are volunteering with BISC
7. BISC’s policies and procedures
BISC’s policies and procedures for Volunteers are set out in the Volunteers Handbook, available online - http://www.bisc.org.uk/volunteer-handbook
By agreeing to these guidelines, you are indicating that you will abide by these policies and procedures when volunteering for BISC. You are also agreeing to abide by the most up to date COVID-19 guidance for volunteers and any other measures as defined by BISC’s Covid-19 risk assessment.
